A Physician's Plea

a physician's plea

i am a physician
which means i'm first human
though the world wants to keep me
detached and removed
up in some pedestal
far from the real you

i don't belong there
i belong with you
next to you
i'm a human person
i am like you

it is in my humanity
that i can best
see you
hear you
serve you

i am a human being
just like you
and my heart longs
to know you
and connect with you
with compassion
generosity
and, yes, with love

let me
fall
back
down
to where i belong

i am
human
which is
what you need
not
one
more
machine

let me be human
and walk alongside you
believe me, i care,
and healing dwells there
in the house of 'we'

we heal
together
living more fully
together
we are human
i am human
a human, MD

Blessings & Joy,
Dr Mari

The Season of Light

During Advent, this glorious Season of Light, I remember all that Christ has done for me.
I lift up my eyes to my Maker and thank Him for being my God, my Healer, and my All.

I invite you to keep Advent in your heart this year, slowing down to reflect on the meaning of Christmas. Like Mary, may we ponder the miracle of Jesus and make room for Him in our hearts. When we invite Him in, what we've said yes to is healing, restoration, and hope.
His arrival means Life!

This poem I wrote a few months ago is being published in the next edition of HEAL Magazine. It summarizes what Christ has done and continues to do every day as I remain close to Him.

When we pray to God in our despair, He meets us there.
He is our Emmanuel God with us
Here's a sneak peek.

Prepare a manger for Christ in your heart, for He longs to give you Life.

Have a blessed Advent and Christmas,

"'He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.'"
(Luke 1:32-33)

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
(2 Corinthians 5:17)

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
(John 1:5)

Today, I Am Thankful - Again!

Today, I am thankful.
I am thankful for a new day and the opportunities it brings.
I am thankful for children's laughter, for their honesty and innocence.
I am thankful for the gift of life and health,
for the ability to walk, talk, hear, see, and admire God's creation.
I am thankful for friends who stay near when it matters most
and I am thankful for the memories that keep old friends near.
I am thankful for family, for love,
and for the mundane of every-day living.

I am thankful for trials, for tough times, for people who stretch me.
I am thankful for the priceless gift of true friendship.
I am thankful for rainy days that force me to slow down
and cherish the simple.
I am thankful for God's gifts and my ability to develop and use them.

I am thankful for God and His goodness.
I am thankful for the sacrifice that opened the door to Life eternal.
I am thankful for God's Word and its riches, its challenges, and its Truth.
I am thankful for God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
I am thankful for the mystery
and I am thankful for its miraculous nearness.
I am thankful for mercy, forgiveness, and grace.

Today and every day,
I am thankful.
